As the Foundation celebrates its 10th anniversary it’s important to recognize the significant accomplishments of so many wonderful people who tirelessly work to improve the health status of all our citizens.
During the last 10 years, our Foundation has successfully collaborated with many capable community partners. Through investments of more than $40 million in local health organizations we believe that there is a collective improvement in the health status of our community. Additionally, we are confident that our continuing role as a catalyst and convener alongside our partner organizations will yield positive health outcomes in the future.
We will continue to facilitate the work of coalitions such as the Guilford Community AIDS Partnership that brings to the forefront critical health issues. Local coalitions have the capacity to use their collective resources to advocate, leverage other resources and minimize duplication of effort. When these coalitions are effective, they can galvanize a community in support of a particular issue—one such emerging issue is obesity. In response to this issue, the Foundation partnered with the community to establish the Get Healthy Guilford Coalition. This coalition will mobilize its resources to encourage all of us to exercise more and to make better food selections.
Our Next 10 Years
As we look forward to our next 10 years, we are determined to strengthen our internal capacity to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions in which we invest. The Foundation will devote additional time and resources to this evaluative process.
The path we have created will have milestones along the way, but our ultimate goal is to make wise investments that will result in a healthier community.
Please join us as we chart the course for the next ten years with a renewed zeal to positively impact the health of our community.
